For almost a century people have thought that there was a link between milk and acne, but there was never any proof behind this and many medical experts argued that diet plays a small or no role in the cause of acne. However, there have been a number of studies completed in recent years, which have explored the link between whether milk and acne are linked.
The question ‘does milk cause acne?’ is still an issue that many medical experts do not agree on, although the studies have suggested that people with a higher intake of milk often suffer from worse acne than those with a low intake. Most of the studies that were undertaken concentrated on teenagers but there have been a few studies with adults and the link between milk and adult acne.

I would imagine diet would have a big effect on the occurrence of acne. Interesting correlation between milk and acne, I wonder if it is the milk or just the artificial growth hormones in milk. Would drinking raw milk or organic milk still be bad for acne?
I think that not only milk, but also other food that contain some hormones may cause acne , just a group of foods with the elements which milk also has that cause acne ,so we must pay attention a lot of dairy products.
See, I don’t know if I could give up milk… But I’ve heard it works, depending on the person. I hate diet changes! So hard for me to follow, lol.
I drink minimum of 3-5 glasses of milk a day. I’m a teenager, and my face has little acne. so I’m not so sure about this
I think its true for some. I have adult acne and just tried it. I was clear and then I ate some cereal with 1% milk. Within 3 days acne popped up. No more milk for me. And boy do I love a cold glass of milk.
I drink milk everyday and never had acne
I suffered from severe acne for 20 years. I was another member of the “tried everything” club. I ate well, cut out chocolate and caffeine and greasy foods. took any and every medication and dealt with all the side effects. Did the dermabrasion, all the infomercial products, and even smeared toothpaste on my face because I heard it may help. Through this whole time, I drank a great deal of milk.
a few years ago I went to Aruba for two weeks and they don’t have fresh milk. I went the whole two weeks with no milk, the longest I ever went in my life. My face had cleared up almost entirely, but I attributed it to the sun and salt air and activities.
I had a big bowl of cereal after getting home and within an hour my face was buzzing and was pushing out oil. I sTill didn’t make the connection. it was a couple of weeks later, when my acne came back in full force, that I thought about the milk.
long story short, I can now eat whatever I want…including cheese and certain ice cream…and as long as I stay away from milk I get ZERO acne. it cost me nothing to try it. and my only wish is that I knew this 20yrs ago. my acne has devastated me at times. I missed my his school prom, job opportunities, many many social situations, my confidence was non-existent, I despised my life. now all that is gone. I have a life again.
I want to shout it from the rooftops and want anyone and everyone to know. if it helps just one other person, its worth it to me. try it. quit all dairy for just one month. it costs you nothing.
For those who love milk and don’t think they could do without, like I was, … try Almond Milk. I love it!
i went away for a week and could not really wash my face due to conditions and while i was away i did not have access to my every day 10 glasses of milk so as i was freaking out about my face breaking out because i wasnt washing it i still got barely any breakouts possibly because i was not drinking milk hmmmmm try it out who knows it may work for you
Drink hormone-free milk. Problem solved. Telling kids not to drink milk is stupid. They won’t reach their full adult height and their bones will be weak.
When I was 19 my chiropractor told me milk could be the cause of my acne as I was a heavy milk drinker. So I cut it out and it helped a lot. My skin has never been perfectly clear, but there is a huge difference between when I drink milk and when I don’t. I’ve noticed milk and sugar without fail will cause a major breakout.
I’m 27 now and just noticed last year that organic milk does not break me out, no matter how much I drink.
